LAUNCH OF THE 2022 SEASON!

At the start of spring, the Yacht Club du Gaou Bénat is actively preparing for its 2022 season, with the effective help of its partners from the Yacht Club de Toulon.

Given the late school leaving, the season will officially start

Monday, July 11, 2022!

But our team of instructors will start installing the nautical base from June 27, 2021.

Our base manager will be for the 4thconsecutive year Jean-Christophe Durbec. He will be supported, this year, no longer by two, but by three monitors: Our base manager will be for the 4thconsecutive year Jean-Christophe Durbec. He will be supported, this year, no longer by two, but by three instructors:

  • Marc Payen (BE, 40 years old, already at Gaou in 2021) who will be able to provide security on Sundays, alternating with Jean-Christophe,
  • Tain Rousseau (30 ans BPVOILE )
  • Jerome Bregasse (18 years old CQPVOILE)

For the two young instructors, we have reserved the same apartment as in previous years, in La Ris, with one of our members whom we thank again for his always friendly welcome.

The strengthening of the team will limit the systematic use of overtime and avoid excessive physical fatigue of our instructors. It will also provide opportunities to open rentals and private lessons longer in the day by shifting the hours of presence of certain instructors.

The fleet will be essentially the same as in 2021, with:

  • –    6 Hobie Cat 15’
  • –    4 Hobie Cat Dragoon
  • –    6 Laser standard
  • –    6 Laser Pico
  • –    15 Optimist
  • –    13 kayaks (6 doubles – 2 triples – 5 simples)
  • –    10 paddles BIC de 3,20 m
  • – 8 inflatable paddles (in reserve, if necessary)
  • – 3 semi-rigid safety boats (two 5.20m with steering wheel with 30 HP motor and one 4m with tiller with 9.9 HP motor).

As we announced last year, we have built the second 18 m² terrace installed to the south of the Bormes stone wall. It will be mainly dedicated to briefing and debriefing sessions for Optimist classes, as well as snacks and theory classes for 6-9 year olds.

Our "real estate" investment is not over since we still have to set up permanent bungalows lined with wood. But this project awaits the modification of the classification of the land on which the club is installed, in the PLU of Bormes les Mimosas.

To try to solve the thorny problem of the rise of boats on our steep ramp, we decided to test, at the beginning of July, a CadMover type electric mini-tractor which moves at 4 km/h, i.e. say 5 times faster than our current winch hook. If it is satisfactory, we will confirm the order for this equipment. Launching and raising the boats would then become a pleasure! If the purchase is made, it will be the main investment of the 2022 season.

We hope to escape, this summer, the constraints linked to the Covid and we have therefore planned the organization of two regattas, one in July and the other in August.

The 2022 season is going to be beautiful!

We therefore invite you to register and make your reservations without delay on our site, especially for the very busy weeks (from July 18 to August 19): =>https://ycgb.fr

For the continuation of our investments, your donations are still essential and appreciated.

In 2022, the Ministry of Sports is relaunching the tax-exempt kitty system “Supportistclub” which was very useful to us last year for the construction of the terraces: =>Support your club

Do not hesitate to make a new donation this year to your club: it is deductible at 65% of your taxable income. We will be able, thanks to him, to provide for the purchase of our bungalows and the floors and pergolas essential to equip the patio located at the back of the bungalows (zone for drying vests).

See you very soon on our terraces or on the lake of Gaou Bay!
