Le P'tit Optimist

We were 150 according to the police and 300 according to the organizers! A July 15 in overwhelming heat. All the members and many friends of the club wanted to testify by their presence the support they bring to the Yacht-Club du Gaou Bénat, to its voluntary administrators, to its instructors, to its partner the YCT, ... and to all those who contribute to its development.

The festivities began with the presentation of the prizes for the “Laser” Challenge, which took place that morning and with the announcement that the “Optimist-all-ages” Challenge would be postponed to the next day, July 16, due to unfavorable weather.

After the essential speeches, all this sympathetic crowd then found themselves, with great pleasure, in front of a high quality cocktail prepared by the treasurer of the club.

For the most motivated, the evening continued after nightfall and half a dozen members (including the president and vice-president) found themselves pushed into the water in the bay of Gaou Bénat at 11 o'clock at night!

The next day, everyone was on deck at 3:00 p.m. for the Optimist Challenge. The 21 competitors fiercely competed for the title of “Champion of Gaou Bénat in Optimist” that the whole world envies us. Inevitably a new trophy presentation pot “had to” be organized which made it possible to finish the leftovers from the day before.

At the YCGB, nothing is wasted…!

All members have, of course, agreed to meet again in ten years to celebrate YCGB Season 20!
